While finishing my physics undergraduate degree at Kutztown University, the physics department asked if I could put a new fact sheet together on short notice (about five days, between classes and sports). With very little time, I sought to create a design that was simple, yet contemporary in appearance, while also being flexible in its printing. Thus, I utilized a "tile" design that pieced components atop a white negative space, so that any margin would flow into the design itself. The palette was designed around Kutztown's official colors, and the symbols were constructed in a manner that connected with the tiling design, to signify how the various physics "tracks" pieced together into a single study. Finally, the highlight of this handout that separates it from the norm is the use of silhouettes to list the professors within the department. Each silhouette was drawn based upon their profile photographs, to humanize their names and titles and ease any sense of intimidation.
